August Wrap Up and September TBR

Happy September! August absolutely flew by, but I did manage to read 8 books. In my monthly wrap-ups, I thought I would also add some reading stats, so you can see more about the overall month. So, without further ado, here they are.

Reading Stats

Books Read: 8

Pages Read: 3,365

Longest Book: The Complete Letters of Oscar Wilde (1,270 pages).

Shortest Book: Songs of Innocence and Experience (56 pages).

Night Sky With Exit Wounds by Ocean Voung

This is a poetry collection that I gave this 5/5 stars, and I did a full review for it, which you can find here.

Red, White, and Royal Blue by Kasey McQuiston

This was a re-read because I love this alternate timeline, and it stayed as 5/5 stars.

Songs of Innocence and Experience by William Blake

This is a poetry collection and while I enjoyed a bunch of these poems, there were a few that I didn’t love. Overall, it didn’t feel like anything super special, so I gave it 3/5 stars.

Circe by Madeline Miller

This was a 4/5 star read. I loved the writing and the overall character arc of Circe throughout the story. If you’d like to hear more of my thoughts, I did a full review of this, which you can find here.

King and The Dragonflies by Kacen Callender

This is a middle-grade book and I really loved it. The writing was vivid and almost picturesque, and the overall story had such a mystical feel. Overall, it was very sweet and I gave it 5/5 stars!

Persuasion by Jane Austen

I enjoyed this, but it was definitely more difficult to get into compared to the other Jane Austen novels that I’ve read. I liked the way the story went, but I didn’t feel immersed in it, so I gave it 3/5 stars.

The Complete Letters of Oscar Wilde

I’ve been casually reading this book for a few months, as it has over 1,000 pages, but I have read all of the letters that have interested me, so I’m counting this book as done. There were a lot of great works in this, including De Profundis, and many of his essays on prison reform. Overall, I highly enjoyed all the ones I read. 5/5 stars.

War Storm by Victoria Aveyard

I’ve been meaning to read this book since it was released, but I finally did it this month and I’m glad I did. I really loved getting back into this world and seeing all the characters that I love (especially Maven and Evangeline). This was a bit of an emotional read, but I thought this was a pretty great ending to the series. It did wrap up most of the story, but I think enough things were left open in the end if Aveyard ever wants to revisit this world. Overall, I gave it 4.5/5 stars.

I’m starting school this month, so I don’t know how much time I’ll have to read, but I have a few books I’d like to get to soon.

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

I got this book recently from a book sale at my library, and I’ve been looking to read it for a while so hopefully I will get to it this month.

You Should See Me In A Crown by Leah Johnson

I’ve had this book digitally on hold at my library, and it became available the other day, so this will be my next read.

Julius Caesar by Shakespeare

I read this play about three years ago, but I recently got a copy of it, and I’d love to re-read it soon.

And that’s all for this month. Did you read any great books in August? Or are you looking forward to some in September? I’d love to hear about them!
