Five Star Predictions

In the past, I’ve seen a lot of booktube videos on people’s five-star predictions, and they always looked like a lot of fun. So today, here are three books that I think I would rate five-stars. Once I’ve read them, I’ll do an update post on whether I was right or not. I’ll also be linking the Goodreads page for every book, so you can read a full summary if you’d like.

  1. On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong

I’ve read Ocean Vuong’s poetry collection, Night Sky With Exit Wounds, and I absolutely loved it. (I have a full review for it here if you’re interested.) This is his first novel and its the story of a son writing a letter about his past, his family, and his life, to his mother that cannot read. His poetry had such imaginative and elegant writing, and every word was filled with emotion, so I’m really looking forward to reading this one.

2. The Marrow Thieves by Cherie Dimaline

This book is set in a world where everyone has lost the ability to dream, except the indigenous people in North America because of their bone marrow. They are being hunted for their marrow and the main character must fight to escape and reunite with his family. I’ve seen so many five star reviews for this novel, and it sounds so interesting. I have also seen that it is not a typical dystopian novel as the description makes it seem, but more of a contemporary with speculative fiction aspects, and a lot of my favorite books are the same, so I definitely think I’m going to love this one.

3. Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky

I actually read about 30% of this book back in July and I really enjoyed what I read, but I never finished it. I think I just wasn’t in the right mood for it. Nevertheless, I’ve wanted to read it for a while and this time focus more on it, as when I first started it, I was reading another book at the same time.

That’s all for this time. Once I read all these and post the update, I’ll add a link for it here. So, have you read any of these book? And if so, what did you think of them? If not, what are some of your five-star predictions?
