The First Bright Thing is a historical fantasy set against the backdrop of the end of WWI. It follows a time-traveling circus made up of magical outcasts, (with a sapphic main character!) laying the perfect groundwork for a found-family who must band together against a powerful ringmaster. This is J.R. Dawson’s debut and I’m super excited to read it!

hi! what have you been up to today? This week I’ve had a break from classes, so I’ve just mostly been hanging out and reading, watching tv/youtube, and playing minecraft. I’m in between books right now, but my audiobook for Lapvona just came in from my library so I’m hoping to start that tonight and maybe pick up This Side of Paradise too, as I also have that one out from the library. Otherwise I haven’t been up to too much, hope you’ve all been well <3

how have you been today? I had some classes this morning and an exam for my German class (which I think went pretty well 🤞) but other than that I haven’t been up to too much. I did have some dinner with friends and also started reading The City of the Soul today, which is an early poetry collection by Lord Alfred Douglas and I’m quite liking it. Anyways, I hope you have a lovely evening <3

hello! long time no post. I took a long break from hello! long time no post. I took a long break from instagram, not necessarily intentionally but I’m really looking forward to posting again!
I felt quite drained creatively when it came to taking photos and wasn’t loving what I was doing, so I felt little motivation to keep up with it, but now that I’ve been gone, I’ve really regained that lost spark and have been itching to rejoin bookstagram for a while, but it never felt like the right time. But I’ve realized that I shouldn’t be waiting around for the right time and instead should just go for it, as there’s honestly nothing stopping me but myself. I used to put a lot of pressure on myself to post every single day and keep up with all the trending styles, but that only turned something I loved to do into a chore. All this to say, I’m excited to be back posting and interacting with everyone here as I’ve missed engaging with everyone a lot. <3
